Cultural Life in Stuttgart

Stuttgart is an important cultural centre. The Staatstheater and Staatsgalerie are often visited by tourists. The Staatstheater includes an opera house and three theatres. Opera, ballet, theatrical performances and concerts are produced here. In 2006 the Staatstheater won the "Theatre of the year" award (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The world-famous Stuttgart Opera was awarded the title "Opera of the year" (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) six times. The Stuttgart Ballet is also very popular. The Apollo and the Palladium Theatre are the city’s Broadway-style musical theaters. The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is also worth visiting. It is an art museum opened in 2005. Its collection comes from the "Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart". It includes works by Otto Dix, Willi Baumeister, Adolf Hölzel, Dieter Roth, and others.
