Other places to visit in Stuttgart

The famous Wilhelma is definitely a must-see, because it is Germany's only combined zoological and botanical garden. It was built around 1850 as a summer palace for King Wilhelm I of Württemberg. The parks and gardens of Stuttgart are good for taking a walk or having some rest. Most of them are called "das Grüne U" ("the green U") because of the way they surround the city centre.

The Carl Zeiss Planetarium offers exciting astronomical journeys for its visitors. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is situated in a magnificent modern building which looks really peculiar. The collection housed by the museum is also interesting to look at: there are more than 160 vehicles exhibited here. There is also another technical museum – the Porsche Museum.

The Württembergisches Landesmuseum (the Historical art museum) and the Kunstgebäude (the Contemporary arts museum) are also worth visiting.

The suburbs of Bad Cannstatt and Berg are health centres with many mineral springs. The second largest mineral spas in Europe (only surpassed by Budapest) are located here. The mineral water is bottled and exported.

You can also visit the towns located in this region: Ludwigsburg with its beautiful baroque palace, Sindelfingen and Esslingen.
